Writing

My writing is flowing. I'm getting a few words in here and there on a smoke break or during lunch or even on the train. It's giving me more enthusiasm to write even more. I read a statistic the other day. I'm not confident of its accuracy but I believe it could be quite true. Out of everyone who starts their first novel, only 3% finish it. I find this really encouraging because I know that I'm going to finish, and that I'm going to finish quite soon too.

Reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I love it. There are some themes in this story which are similar to themes in my story. I wish I could find more books like it (and as well written too). If you have any suggestions please leave a comment.

I think I'm productive right now for two reasons. One: I'm recovering from a long time illness and feeling better each day and two: I have built up momentum. It's so much easier to write when you're writing already.

Also reading Neil Gaiman's short story collection: Smoke and Mirrors and still reading Stephen King's short story collection: Nightmares and Dreamscapes.

For reasons I'll discuss later I have not advertised this blog and I also haven't told anybody about it. It will be interesting to get people's opinions on it later when I'm ready to show it. In the meantime it is possible that people may stumble upon it randomly so I'll leave it to fate for now. If you do happen to find this blog please leave a comment and/or give me some suggestions on the questions I've asked.

I'll keep the posts frequent from here on (at least one a week).

Thanks for reading,
Warrior Monk

  1. I love Stardust - both the film and the book. You can follow Neil Gaiman on Twitter if you aren't already! It inspired me to make a ring with 'Made of Stardust' inscribed on it. I made it initially in silver art clay but loved it so much I had a jeweller remake it for me in white gold. I never take it off.

  2. I've never heard of Neil. But I do believe that statistic. So many people want to "be published" that they never understand how truly hard it is to write a novel.
